What to Expect From Your

Acupuncture Appointment

Welcome To Pure Serenity

At Pure Serenity Acupuncture and Wellness, we combine traditional Chinese medicine with modern wellness techniques to provide you with comprehensive care. Whether you are new to acupuncture or a returning client, we want to ensure you know what to expect from your appointments, so you can feel relaxed and confident in your journey towards better health.

Your First Acupuncture Session (about 1.5 hours)

Your first acupuncture session will be a comprehensive consultation and treatment lasting approximately 90 minutes. This extended session allows us to fully understand your health concerns and goals, and to create a personalized treatment plan.

Initial Consultation:

  • Health History Review: We will begin with a detailed review of your medical history, lifestyle, and any specific health issues you are experiencing. This helps us understand your overall health and identify the root causes of your symptoms.

  • Diagnosis: Our practitioner will use traditional Chinese diagnostic methods such as pulse diagnosis, tongue inspection, and palpation of specific acupuncture points to assess your energy flow and identify imbalances.

Treatment Plan Discussion:

  • Personalized Plan: Based on the initial consultation and diagnosis, we will develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your specific needs and health goals. This plan may include acupuncture, as well as recommendations for additional therapies like herbal medicine, dietary changes, or lifestyle adjustments.

Acupuncture Treatment:

  • Needle Insertion: You will lie comfortably on a treatment table while the practitioner gently inserts fine, sterile needles into specific acupuncture points on your body. The number and location of needles will depend on your individual condition and treatment plan.

  • Relaxation Time: The needles will typically remain in place for 20-30 minutes. During this time, you may feel a mild tingling or warmth, which is a normal response to the stimulation of acupuncture points. Many clients find this time deeply relaxing and restorative.

  • Herbal Medicine Integration: If appropriate, herbal serums or topical applications may be used in conjunction with needle insertion to enhance the therapeutic effects.

Follow-Up Acupuncture Sessions (45 minutes)

Follow-up appointments are designed to continue and build upon the progress made during your initial session. Each follow-up session lasts approximately 45 minutes.

Progress Review:

  • Health Update: At the beginning of each follow-up session, we will briefly review your progress, discuss any changes in your symptoms, and address any new health concerns.

  • Treatment Adjustments: Based on your feedback and ongoing assessment, we may adjust your treatment plan to ensure it continues to meet your needs effectively.

Optional Add-On Services

To enhance your acupuncture experience and address additional health and wellness goals, you can choose to add any of the following services to your acupuncture sessions:

  • Gua Sha: A traditional scraping technique that promotes circulation and relieves muscle tension.

  • Cupping Therapy: A technique that uses suction cups to improve blood flow and reduce pain.

  • Red light Therapy: This non-invasive treatment penetrates the skin to reach tissues, muscles, and even bones, promoting healing and reducing inflammation.

  • Electric Stimulation Acupuncture: Enhances the effects of acupuncture by applying a mild electrical current to the needles.

  • Breathwork: Guided breathing exercises to improve relaxation, reduce stress, and enhance overall well-being.

  • Meditation: Mindfulness and meditation practices to promote mental clarity, reduce anxiety, and support emotional balance.

  • Aromatherapy: The use of essential oils to enhance relaxation, improve mood, and support overall health through the sense of smell.

  • Ear Seed Application: The placement of tiny seeds on specific points of the ear to stimulate acupressure points, supporting various health conditions and enhancing the benefits of your acupuncture session.
